Regan and Luna

"Luna and I love each other dearly and want to have the best lives for ourselves. She was originally from California, around the San Diego area, and she eventually moved to live with me around Chattanooga, TN in order to find a better home situation. We’ve been together since the summer of 2023, and we’ve been an absolute light in each other's eyes every day since then. From meeting her online, to visiting her in her home state, and now living together with her in our present small apartment, it has all been some of the best set of experiences in my life thus far, and I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. Though we both knew that as much as living together on its own was a wonderful experience, living in this current area was ultimately going to be temporary.

While we love our friends and family back in my home state of Tennessee, and they’ve been nothing but supportive of us in ways that honestly surprised me when I initially came out to them, it was clear that the overall political climate there wasn’t going to be hospitable for us as two trans women in a gay relationship. We knew that at some point, we were going to have to move to somewhere significantly safer for us in the long run, eventually settling on the prospect of moving to Minnesota. Both because of the overall better climate for LGBTQ+ people, but also because we have plenty of friends in the state who could help us settle in once we arrived there. To us, this will be somewhere where we can truly be ourselves in more of an open way than we could be in Tennessee, and let us be with each other in the best way that we can.

But to ultimately get there, we were going to need a little help. A friend introduced us to Transpath, and they ended up being a wonderful set of people who helped us along in ways that we are both sincerely thankful for. Whether it was giving us various pieces of support or simply helping us get the word out there for others to pitch in where they could. Combined with the help and support we also got from our respective friends and family along the way, it ended up going a long way towards helping us where we need to go.

They were absolutely lovely folks to talk to, have been with us for every step of the way, and have been more than willing to offer any services they can as we continue to build towards the eventual move that seems so much more likely to legitimately happen than it did towards the beginning of the year. And I can sincerely recommend them to any trans person who can use an extra helping hand when it comes to finding somewhere that’s truly safer for them. There are people out there who gladly lend a helping hand, and Transpath are more than willing to be that for anyone who may need it."

Rose
My name is Rose Tucker, and at 20 years old, I found myself at a crossroads in my life. As a trans woman living in rural Alabama, I faced a multitude of challenges. Access to medical and social support for my transition was severely limited, and job opportunities in my small town were scarce. These barriers made it difficult for me to envision a path forward, let alone one that affirmed and embraced my true identity.

Everything changed when I connected with TransPath, a non-profit foundation dedicated to supporting individuals like me. With their generous funding, I was able to make a life-altering move from Alabama to Washington, a journey that opened doors I never thought possible. TransPath didn't just help me relocate; they provided me with safe housing, employment assistance, and invaluable advice tailored to my unique needs. Their support network has been a lifeline, offering care and understanding that has made all the difference in my transition and growth.

The impact of TransPath on my life has been profound, and I am compelled to share my story in the hope that it reaches others who might be in similar situations. The caring and committed team at TransPath has shown me that there is a community ready to uplift and empower individuals like me. I urge anyone who wants to make a difference to consider volunteering or supporting TransPath. Their work is transformative, and you can be a part of that change.
